Great paddle for the mixer

I bought this because the paddle that came with my 6qt KitchenAid mixer is NOT dishwasher safe but this one is. I like how it scrapes the sides of the bowl to get better mixing. Before I had to scrape down the sides because, of course, the metal paddle doesn’t touch the sides. So far it’s held up well and I will never go back to the other one.

Awesome invention for mixers!

This mixer blade is the best thing I have ever had for my cakes and icings ! I hate having to stop and scrape the bowl down during mixing and with this swiping attachment I do not have to! It cleans the sides and bottom as it mixes! You won’t regret this purchase!

Close but no cigar

This is a big improvement over the beater attachment delivered with my Kitchenaid 6-qt pro mixer.

In fact the mixer is useless to me without the SideSwipe.

Two drawbacks:

1) Cleaning is a chore. It’s difficult to remove all the batter from the fins.

2) Plastic beater is quite fagile. I found out the hard way.

Amazing aroma.

I am so excited to see Amazon offering the Van Houtte k cups. They are by far my favorites. This one is my husbands favorite. I am not big on the fruity flavored coffes, but I love the way this one makes the whole room smell. I was surprised that I like this one. These coffees are a great combination of flavor and a medium bodied coffee. I have tried five of their flavors and all of them taste exactly like what they are supposed to taste like. The 5 I have tried are the raspberry truffle of course and Creme Caramel (tastes like those little square caramels you see at Halloween), Spicy Mayan ( My favorite chocolate and cinnamon mix), pecan praline and creme brulee. I am so happy I no longer have to spend more to stock these coffees. My house is never out of the Raspberry Chocolate truffle and the Spicy Mayan. They have the best and most unique flavors. If you like flavored coffee that is full of flavor and yet has a nice smooth medium bodied coffee taste, then these are a must try. I highly recommend the Van Houtte line of k cups.

My personal fave

My husband gave me a Keurig coffee maker, so we’ve been trying different flavors of coffee. To me, I don’t care about brand necessarily, I just like flavored coffee. On the top of my list are Gloria Jean’s assorted flavors (Hazelnut, French Vanilla, White Chocolate — I think). That one also includes a Mudslide flavor, but we thought it had a slight coconut taste we didn’t care for. I like the Kahlua brand Kahlua coffee, but the flavor portion is a little strong. But my VERY, VERY, VERY favorite flavor is this Van Houtte Chocolate Raspberry Truffle flavor. It’s just the right balance of “coffee” to “flavor” ratio. You can taste it, but still taste the coffee. And my kitchen smells heavenly! But a lot of it boils down to personal taste and preferences. If you typically like this type of flavored coffee, you will love this flavor. And I definitely recommend Subscribe and Save for K-cups if you have a Keurig. It’s the most economical way to get them. You get a discount and free shipping.

Great value for the money – one small caveat

We have owned insulated tumblers by a variety of makers over the years, up to and including the very expensive Tervis tumblers. We always have preferred the solid colors rather than clear or with various figures imbedded in them.

We had previously purchased a set of Boston Warehouse tumblers from Target and found them to be better than other moderately priced tumblers due to their not developing leaks at the thermally welded seams and allowing moisture to get into the air space.

But we also found that they were not as good as Tervis in resisting the frosting effect that can come with continued washing in a dishwasher. But with a little care, this effect can be circumvented and they should perform yeoman service for quite some time.

The dishwasher effect is my only reason for not fiving them five stars.

Insulated glasses

These glasses are very nice to use. I’m hand washing them because the last ones I got (not these) leaked water into the insulated area when they were washed in the dishwasher. Very annoying. Similar tumblers at a store in town were $12 each, I paid $16 for 4 if I remember correctly.

Great glasses

I bought a set of tumblers like this years ago and after years of use with bangs and drops, they started to sweat on the outside so it was time for a search to begin. I found these and I really like them and the colors too.. I even added a set of the smaller size. The only complaint I have about the larger glass is the bottom diameter size .. I wish it was larger to keep glass from tipping over if knocked just right… Ive already knocked one over reaching for it and hitting it by accident.. luckily it was only water. Overall, great glass and happy with my find but I will continue to look off and on to see if set like I use to have with fatter bottom ever show up online… they were my favorite

Perfect Martini Glasses

As a devotee of Martinis, gin of course, and an author of a cocktail book, I have been disgruntled over the ever-growing sizes of Martini glasses. Riedel has managed to maintain an elegant look in their line of Martini glasses, but they have an attached stem to the bowl. Bormioli has been making beautiful glasses, with a single-blown stem and bowl for years, but they have always been too big for my taste. Perhaps you prefer larger portions, but I find that even when you chill a larger glass in the freezer, it will still gradually lose that chill much too soon–and there is nothing so pathetic as a lukewarm Martini. Moreover, like President Roosevelt, I enjoy my two Martinis before dinner, but I also want to remember my dinner. With the new series, Bormioli has created a thoroughly manageable and perfectly styled glass. It’s also the right size particularly for entertaining, since you don’t want your guests to get too snookered too soon.

Perfect for classic gin martinis

Classic gin martini purists are, in the 21st century, a rare but, we hope, not vanishing breed. Myself and my companions who comprise the California Gin-O-Cological Society, for example, are flourishing, and the consumption of classic gin martinis bears a not inconsiderable amount of the credit. We get together most Friday evenings cocktail-hourish for heavy hors d’oeurves and three or four rounds of martinis, each featuring a different premium or super-premium gin.

In order to avoid stupefaction or worse, doses must be carefully titrated, and the Bormioli 4.5 oz. Ypsilon glass is the perfect vehicle. Even the most delicious 2 oz. “single” martini in one of those 10 or 12 oz. conical punch bowls looks both a little ridiculous and a little pathetic at the same time. The small glass restores proportion and evokes the aura of more civilized times — Mencken, Churchill, Bogart, FDR.

I’ve owned 6 of these glasses for about 10 years, and I swear by them. They are the perfect size for a 2 to 2 1/2 oz. drink (with plenty of room for an olive), they have a classy look without being fancy crystal, and If one happened to be overcome by the urge to cast one into a fireplace, no irreparable loss would ensue. I’ve been looking for more at a good price for quite some time, and was pleased to find them in stock at Amazon (though definitely not at a good price).

I ordered a dozen, and they showed up in two or three days in perfect condition — thank you, Amazon.

A caveat: These glasses are billed as “dishwasher safe,” but that is delusional. The Ypsilons are sturdy without the ponderous clunkiness of commercial barware, but the dishwsher would be a mos-def no-no. Similar to that reviewer with the kinetic eyeballs, I inexplicably chipped the rim of one myself. Stricken, I fired up a MAPP gas torch, carefully flame-healed the wound and kept the glass in service. Greater love hath no man.

Beautiful, but…

First, let me say these glasses are very small. If you’re used to the modern martini/cocktail glass, this will look like a cocktail shot glass. Now, it’s NOT necessarily that small; it holds a single martini easily. And modern glasses ARE too big (12 oz. for a martini? Really?). But just don’t be surprised when you pull them out. They’re going to look really small.

Now, the good news: These are beautiful glasses. The crystal is clear and bright, and the pulled stem looks very nice. They look high-end.

The bad news? I hadn’t so much as pulled a glass out of the container when it chipped on the rim. I don’t even think I had it near anything. It’s like it chipped just because I looked at it. The rims are very, very delicate, and with the small size of these glasses, I’d say breakage possibility is very high.

I would have kept them as dainty girly glasses, but I decided they’re just too delicate and sent them back. Because I did return them, I couldn’t give them more than 2 stars, but they would have gotten at LEAST three had I felt they could last; they are really pretty.

These are terrific glasses. The size is ideal, and the shape of the stem keeps the glass balanced. They are classic and elegant plain glass with the Z shape adding a bit of style.

Good, reasonably sized martini glass

Fairly nice glassware, I’ve had it for a couple weeks now and am still not quite sure if I prefer them to the Libbey Vinas. They are a more reasonable size (they easily accommodate a double martini, while the Vinas do so with quite a bit of head room – so if you’re going to building single martinis in the Vinas you run the risk of looking a bit cheap), they stand a bit shorter (both due the curved stem and reduced volume) so they feel a bit less tipsy and the Z-stems feel a bit heavier in the hand, which I like. In fact a quick weigh-in shows the z-stem weighing in at 250g while the Vina is just under 200g, despite being a taller, larger glass.

So over-all I think I’ve just talked myself into preferring the z-stemmed glasses. My one disappointment with them is fairly trivial and, given the name of the product, is what I probably should have been expecting, ie the stem is curved in two dimensions rather than three, however if it’s placed or held at the right angle it appears to have a 3d spiral shape.

Edit: There are two distinct styles of Z-wave in the set (two of each) a narrow-z and a wide-z. I prefer the wider style, those with small hands would likely prefer the narrow.

Great price for a durable and sleek set of glasses!

I paid $13 for this set of four, which works out to $3.25 per glass. The stems are thick and sturdy and really seem like they could survive if you accidentally knocked one over (which happens when you’re drinking enough martinis…). I have another set of martini glasses that take up tons of room in my cabinet but these take up about as much space as a standard red wine glass. I like the design a lot; subtle but stylish. I definitely recommend these!

What a difference a millimeter makes

I was hesitant to spend the money for this disc since my Cuisinart came with a 4mm slicing disc and I had already bought a 2mm disc. The thicker disc is great for a variety of uses which is probably why it ships as standard equipment with the food processor but I wanted thinner slices for things like cucumber salad and scalloped potatoes or potato salad. I used the 2mm for years but I was never really happy with it for softer vegetables. The cucumber slices were so thin they would just wilt and lose their crispness and cooked potatoes would frequently fall apart. For these items, the 3mm slicing disc is sheer perfection. The vegetables are thin yet they retain their shape and I am happy that I made this purchase.

Amazon’s misleading accessory link

I just bought three cuisinart dlc-5 food processors: first one for myself and then later two as gifts. I wanted more flexibility in the range of foods I could process; and as a result click on the Amazon accessory link for a 3mm slicing disc. This disk did not fit my food process.

I returned it, but Amazon was asking me to pay the return freight, as it was “my fault”. I disagreed, and am awaiting the final outcome.

Not withstanding the outcome, I looked closer at the other links in order to buy more disks, and I see some of the other accessory links are not much better. April 2004

I gave my 7 cup Cuisinart that I had for over 10 years to my daughter and just bought a new one. The name itself is an excellent quality and speaks for itself. I am anxious to purchase this discs to add to my others. I highly recommed this because of the good quality made and the many uses you can get at it.

Handspresso traveling coffee maker

We use this coffee maker whenever we go traveling in the car it is great for coffee lovers it might not be as good as some coffee shops but when you are in the middle of nowhere driving for hours it is a dream come true

Just having it with you it has been quite a talking point as well only problem it stopped compressing the last time we used it

I had to send it away to get it fixed they returned it with a few extra seals seems that was the problem and easy to repair yourself on the road reason I sent it away I have a habit of breaking things but now I know how it works I will replace the seal myself when it breaks next time

What a great gift!

I bought this for my husband who is a teacher and he loves it.(So do all the other curious teachers) The espresso isn’t as strong as you would get at a coffee shop but it’s great for picnics or being out all day and getting a quick pick me up with friends. I highly recommend this for the classy guy/gal in your life.
